about

Written in October 1997 in Eagle River, Alaska. From The Betty Crockett's one and only demo, recorded in 1999 in a friend's living room in Portland, Oregon. Time was limited so we kept the first take on everything.

lyrics

---------------
I’ve watched you from a distant wall
I’ve talked to you. You’re such a doll.
Then I stepped back and watched you work
Now I have proof: you are a jerk.

(chorus:)
Too cruel to be cool.
Uh-oh. Uh-oh.
Too cruel to be cool.
Uh-oh. Uh-oh-oh-oh.
Too cruel to be cool.
Uh-oh. Uh-oh.
Too cruel to be cool.

It’s not just fun. This is no game.
You viciously attack the sane.
Driven by an inner force.
Hurt, not play, is your purpose.

(chorus)

You’ve tossed yourself out. No one’s reeling you in.
You’re lost in the crowd. How well you blend in.

Their first gig was an Anchorage battle of the bands competition and they broke the record for volume of crowd response, though they did not win. Brooke and Shea haven't stopped playing music. They're both just incredibly busy. ... more
