about

Written in 1998 in Eagle River, Alaska. From The Betty Crockett's one and only demo, recorded in 1999 in a friend's living room in Portland, Oregon. Time was limited so we kept the first take on everything.

lyrics

It's my love song.
My personal love song.
I'm thinking and believing strong
in my demeaning
little
love song.

I hate my nose. I hate my eyes.
My feet too big. My crooked smile.
My legs too long. My chest too flat.
My hair is dull. My butt too fat.
My clothes fit wrong 'cause I'm strangely built
with dangling hands and a body on stilts.
I know it's my anatomy.
I'm built all wrong so they hate me.

My best friend thought I didn't see
how weird I look so she told me.
She felt bad when she saw my eyes.
She filled me with taunts and lies:
"Don't be so vain!"
"I never noticed that."
"You're fine just the way you are!"
Shut up!

It's my love song.
My personal love song.
I'm thinking and believing strong
in my demeaning
little
love song.

Their first gig was an Anchorage battle of the bands competition and they broke the record for volume of crowd response, though they did not win. Brooke and Shea haven't stopped playing music. They're both just incredibly busy. ... more
